Plushies

Olive

The first plush I made as an adult. This was Julie's 2020 birthday gift, because she loves olives so much. The design and construction were a fun challenge. The pimento is removable, and as the below image shows, you can put other similarly-sized plush toys inside the olive.

Eggplant ("Egg")

This was a gift for Julie's birthday in 2021. I don't have any work-in-progress pictures of the plush, unfortunately, but I'm quite proud of the design and construction. It came out a bit lumpy due to my less-than-perfect hand sewing, but I'm overall very happy with it.

Hall thruster and vacuum chamber

In early 2022, I made a plush version of the H9 Hall Effect Thruster and the Large Vacuum Test Facility, both of which are operated by the Plasmadynamics and Electric Propulsion Laboratory at the University of Michigan. They were gifts on behalf of our entire lab for my Ph.D. advisor after the birth of his second child. The Hall thruster is pretty neat, but I'm extremely proud of the vacuum chamber. Special thanks to Leanne Su, my labmate and close friend, for embroidering the lovely details on the hatch and for sewing the little michigan flag. I will write up patterns for both of these at some point.
